Biography
Andrey D. Andreev graduated with a Diploma in Physics, with a major in Plasma Physics, from the Tomsk State University, USSR, in 1990.
He was then employed by the Institute of High-Current Electronics, Theoretical Laboratory, Tomsk, USSR/Russia and the Efremov Institute of Electrophysical Apparatus, Department of High-Current Accelerators, St. Petersburg, Russia.
He was admitted for graduate education by the University of New Mexico (UNM) in 2003 and received his Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering, with a major in Applied Electromagnetics in 2007 with his thesis title “Methods to produce short-pulse high-power microwaves.”
Andreev worked at the Air Force Research Laboratory, Directed Energy Directorate, High Power Microwave Division as the NRC Associate (Post-Doctoral Researcher)from 2008 to 2011.
In 2011, after brief professional engagements with TechFlow Scientific Inc., and ECE UNM, he joined Raytheon Missile Systems, Directed Energy Division of Raytheon Ktech as Sr. High-Power Microwave Physicist and worked there up to 2016. From 2016 to 2018 he was with Booz Allen Hamilton, Directed Energy ISO, Albuquerque office as High-Power Microwave System Engineer. From 2018 to 2020 he was with Confluent Sciences, LLC as Scientist working on subcontracts with Air Force Research Laboratory, Directed Energy Directorate, High Power Microwave Division.
From 2020 to present he has served as a Research Professor at ECE. His research interests involve high-power (relativistic) and conventional microwave, millimeter-wave, and terahertz-frequency vacuum electronic devices, with emphasis on relativistic and non-relativistic magnetrons, system engineering of electromagnetic systems and sub-systems, and plasma physics.
He is a member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), the American Physical Society (APS), the Directed Energy Professional Society (DEPS), the Association of Old Crows (AOC), the Sigma Xi Research Society, and the International Council on System Engineering (IBCOSE).
